The average age  of first drink in New Mexico is 12 years old.


  75% of High School students in NM have had at least one alcoholic drink.

31% of parents of 15-16 year olds believe their child had a drink in the past year.

  60% of 15-16 year olds report drinking.

  Over 40% of 10th graders have been drunk at least once.

Prior use  of alcohol increases the risk of early sexual experience by 80%.


  In 2003, ONE of every FOUR youth in New Mexico reported carrying a WEAPON at least once in the past 30 days.
